Online Repeat Prescription Ordering

Order your Repeat Prescription online:

If you have registered with the Practice for online repeat prescription ordering, please click on the Patient UK link above.

If you are receiving regular medication, the Doctor still needs to see you at regular intervals to assess your treatment.

Patients who require a regular supply of drugs may find it cheaper to purchase a pre-payment certificate. Your local chemist usually has the details.

Repeat supplies of medicine

Ordering a repeat prescription changed on 14 August 2017

Following audits of repeat prescription ordering and in efforts to reduce wastage of medicines, East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (EL CCG) are supporting practices to cease accepting third party prescription ordering from local pharmacies.  In other areas this new repeat prescribing procedure has resulted in reduced wastage and has also helped to free up practice time. The CCGs Medicines Management Team is currently working with Oxford Road Medical Centre to implement the new system which promotes patient empowerment and ownership of repeat medication needs.

How to get a prescription

If you think you may need a prescription medicine, please make an appointment with the doctor. If you have previously been given a prescription for a straightforward condition, such as hay fever, we may be able to issue a prescription after a telephone consultation. Please ask the receptionist. Your local pharmacist should be able to give you advice for non-prescription medication.

How to get a repeat prescription

To provide a safe and speedy service all prescription are computerised.  If you are taking regular medication a printout of all your drugs will be attached to your prescription.  Your request can be sent to us:

  • By placing your printout in the black box provided in reception
  • By posting your printout to the Surgery
  • By faxing your printout – 01282 731 647
  • By ordering online at Patient Access
Please ask at reception for an online Registration Form.
  • Local chemists also provide a collection and delivery service.

If you would like us to post the prescription back to you, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope and allow one week. Please allow 2 whole working days before collection. The 2 working days starts when we receive your instruction during a normal working day and does not start when you instruct a local pharmacy.

For safety reasons requests cannot be accepted by telephone as this may lead to mistakes.  Some drugs have similar names and an error may easily occur.

Always order your repeat medication in good time and do not wait until you have no medication left. Please note that most chemists have special repeat prescription collection schemes which you may wish to use.
